これからはハンデが必要となる。現在でも少しづつソフト側に規制がかけられているが、ソフトが強いのはミスをしないからであり、合議制にするとか、極端な話「待った」ありにする手もある。それでもソフトに勝てない、という時代が来るはずであり、少しづつハンデを重くしながら拮抗した勝負をエンタテイメントとして演出して貰いたい。
しかし車将棋のスポンサーがトヨタというのは少し残念である。トヨタの度量には感心するが、このような面白い企画にはスバルやマツダなど下位のメーカーの方がよく似合うだろう。この両社は近年日本でも大変人気のある特徴を持った車を出してきており、いい宣伝になったのに、と思うと残念である。とくにマツダなど、昔の人からすればどれほどおしゃれで性能の良い車でも「所詮はマツダ」と言われてしまうが、若者は恐らくマツダに対してそれほど悪い印象はなく、スカイアクティブエンジンやお洒落になったデザインにより、スバルのような印象に持って行ける可能性がある。歩、香、桂、銀、金、角、飛、王と8種類あれば大丈夫で、スバルやマツダでも揃えられただろう。
